Uday Mastenbroek is a contemporary Dutch artist, born in 1962 in the Netherlands and currently working in Rotterdam. He began his creative career in the 1980s as a self-taught artist, producing artistic panels and decorative works. In the Field of Noise series, the artist draws inspiration from his experience with tinnitus and hyperacusis (increased sensitivity to sound), which he has been experiencing since 2010. The noise he hears in his ears — a constant ringing, hum, or whistle without an external source — he translates into color and visual forms on the canvas. Today, his abstract works explore the balance between chaos and order, using vibrant colors, layered surfaces, and graphic lines.
